Emmerdale spoilers follow from Monday's episode (October 28), which is available to watch now on streaming service ITVX but hasn't yet aired on ITV1.

Emmerdale villain Tom King may have some explaining to do after he was caught out over a crucial lie regarding his tablet computer.

Tom's latest deception came back to haunt him in Monday's episode, which is streaming early on ITVX ahead of its ITV1 broadcast this evening.

Earlier this month, Tom turned menacing with his young family member Carl over the whereabouts of his missing tablet.

Tom was determined to retrieve the device, as it contained damning evidence proving that he secretly spied on his estranged wife Belle with hidden cameras.

This would help to prove that Belle was telling the truth when she reported Tom to the police for domestic abuse and coercive control, which so far hasn't been pursued by the authorities due to lack of evidence.

In Monday's episode, Carl's stepmum Nicola remained concerned over his strange behaviour at home, after noticing that the schoolboy seems terrified around Tom.

When Nicola gently pushed Carl for an explanation, he reluctantly told her everything – including how Tom ultimately smashed up the tablet to destroy evidence.

No-nonsense Nicola wasted no time before confronting Tom in front of her husband Jimmy, who has so far been supporting his villainous nephew amid the domestic violence claims.

Nicola's dad Rodney Blackstock was also present to witness the showdown, although he found the dispute awkward and made himself scarce.

When Tom claimed not to know what Nicola was referring to, she replied: "So you don't remember shouting at Carl and scaring the living daylights out of him?

"He said Tom was absolutely terrifying. Apparently he threatened Carl that he'd go to jail for stealing his tablet. He must have realised he went too far, as he tried to bribe him with that toy car and swore him to secrecy."

As Tom continued to deny everything, Nicola added: "Explain how Carl saw you with it in the garden, looking at pictures of Belle before smashing it to bits? That doesn't scream 'innocent' to me."

Backed into a corner, will Tom finally lose the support of his family?
