Emmerdale teases new feud for Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas

Emmerdale has teased a new feud for Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas.

The long-time couple recently split up, after Jai made hurtful comments about Laurel's late husband Ashley during a heated row.

Laurel had earlier discovered that Jai was keeping secrets about his involvement in father Amit Sharma's sudden departure from the village.

In Tuesday's (July 23) episode, Jai was in a sour mood as he snapped at Gail Loman at the Hide for commenting on him clearing empty tables.

Laurel soon showed up to ask for a quiet word with Jai, though he warned her he didn't want their discussion to "take too long".

She'd asked to talk to Jai about coming back to work at the Hide, though he quickly shot down her suggestion of alternate shifts so they wouldn't be working together.

"That's a bit OTT isn't it?" Jai complained. "We just need to be grown-ups."

Laurel pointed out that the two of them working together could make life awkward for their staff, if they felt caught in the middle.

"Laurel, you left me," Jai snapped back. "You chose this and now you want me to jump through hoops, and bend over backwards, to organise some impossible rota just so that you don't feel uncomfortable?"

When Jai announced he wanted to take Archie out to the cinema, Laurel explained that Gabby had already made plans to spend time with the children.

"I'm sure you can ring her. He is my son," Jai declared.

Earlier this week, cast member Charlotte Bellamy confirmed that there is "no way back" for Jai and Laurel following their latest split.

"She is sticking to her guns without a doubt," the actor said. "Also, she thinks about the goodness of Ashley, her late husband, and how no one will ever compare to him. He was sort of saintly, whereas Jai is a rotter!"
