Former Emmerdale star Matthew Wolfenden has shared an update with fans after undergoing surgery on his knee.
Taking to his Instagram Stories, the actor revealed he was undergoing surgery after posting a photo from his hospital bed as he waited for the procedure to start. "Ready to go down for surgery on my knee," he captioned the image.
Wolfenden then posted a further update several hours after the surgery was completed, sharing further details on the procedure he'd had done.
"Repair to [meniscus], patella tendon and cartilage damage all done. Took 2 hours instead of the 45 mins they initially thought," he wrote in the post, adding the opening theme to BBC's Casualty in the background.

The actor then went on to praise the care he had received from the NHS while undergoing the procedure, adding a shoutout to the staff who'd treated him at the hospital.

He added: "Can't tell you how amazing everything and everyone was at Harrogate District Hospital. Thank you."
Wolfenden later shared a final update on his hospital journey with fans, sharing an image of himself ready to go home on crutches with his bandaged leg on show.
"All fixed," he wrote before going on to thank personal trainer Heather Scott Martin for her support throughout the week, adding: "Thanks for picking me up and playing nurse this week."
Best known for his role as David Metcalfe in ITV soap Emmerdale, Wolfenden left the role last November after 17 years in the Dales.
Since his departure, the actor has gone on to appear on stage, starring in a musical production of ELF across the Christmas period, in the lead role of Buddy.

The actor also separated from his wife of five years, Charley Webb, last year, confirming the news in a joint statement via Instagram.
"It is with love and respect that Charley and I have decided to separate," Matthew's story read, with Charley's post containing the exact same statement from her own perspective.
"We remain friends and our priority is the love for our children. For their sake we would appreciate privacy at this time."
