Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw has shared details of the show's next two wedding storylines.

Matty Barton and Amy Wyatt exchange their vows in romantic scenes next week, while Paddy and Mandy Dingle are also due to tie the knot later this year.

Next week's episodes see Amy's mum Kerry drop a bombshell on the morning of her wedding, admitting that she can't afford to pay for the ceremony.

Fortunately, someone else steps in to save the day, and the villagers are delighted as they watch Matty and Amy start an exciting new future together.

Speaking to Digital Spy and other media at an Emmerdale press event, Shaw commented: "Matty and Amy's wedding is probably one of the episodes I'm most proud of.

"It encapsulates everything that Emmerdale does best. It's full of humour and wit, drama and tears, but I think most importantly it's just full of heart and warmth as well.

"From our point of view, we wanted to show anyone who's watching who might be going through a journey like Matty's gone through as a young trans person in the world today, that you can find love and acceptance and you can live happily ever after.

"Well, obviously it's soap so you can live but you might not be happy!"

Meanwhile, Paddy and Mandy became engaged again last month.

The couple agreed to move on from the recent tension and awkwardness surrounding Paddy's kiss with his ex-wife Chas.

Shaw added: "It's been brilliant watching Mandy and Paddy's love story play out on screen. We've recently seen them get engaged, and there was a little bit of a throwback – I don't know if anyone spotted it – to their original Cinderella and Prince Charming wedding.

"There are going to be wedding bells for them in the not-too-distant future. I can't really tell you much more than that, because we're still planning it.

"But I'm pretty sure, with Mandy and Paddy involved, it's sure to be a lot of fun."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
