Emmerdale's Victoria Barton questions her future with Jacob Gallagher next week.

Victoria starts to feel guilty when she realises that Jacob may be putting his life on hold for her sake.

Jacob's mum Leyla also finds out about the potential placement when Liam Cavanagh mentions it to her.

Victoria feels embarrassed when she's forced to explain to Leyla that Jacob refused to take the opportunity for her sake.

Leyla and Victoria find some rare common ground, as they're both worried that Jacob's relationship is holding him back.

Victoria responds by making a big decision – is it the end for her and Jacob after just a few months?

Trouble for the pair's relationship comes just a few days after Jacob learned that his dad David Metcalfe won't be returning to the village.

David was heartbroken last year when he found out that Jacob and Victoria had secretly become an item, feeling betrayed by his son and his ex.

He left for London to be closer to his young daughter Amba, who was going through a tough time settling into a new school. Jacob and Victoria were upset, as David departed on bad terms with them both.

Speaking to Digital Spy late last year, Joe-Warren Plant – who plays Jacob – commented: "It was a bit of a surprise, but we were more than happy to do the storyline. It's going to get people talking, and that's what we do it for, so it's been good.

"It's been a pleasure to film – I get on well with Izzy [Hodgins, who plays Victoria], so it's been amazing, really. She's a lovely girl, and it's been nice to do these scenes together."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
