Soap star Amy Walsh may be just as upset as the next Emmerdale fan over Tracy Robinson's affair with Caleb Miligan.

The actress has weighed in on her character's chemistry with Caleb, played by Will Ash, as their secret relationship is set to be exposed in an explosive Christmas episode.

"My first reaction was a bit of sadness for Nate and Tracy when they're newly-married - not to just be happy for a bit! Then obviously quite quickly I was like: 'This is exciting, this is going to be fun to play'," Walsh said.

"Tracy has never really been the baddie," she continued. "It's much more interesting for me to play at the moment - not to be the victim, to be lying and deceitful."

While Walsh is enjoying working with Ash, she admitted she doesn't agree with what Tracy is doing to Nate.

"Will Ash is great and I was thrilled over the idea of getting to work with him. And we'll just see how it plays out. It's kind of sad, but you don't have to be a monster to have your head turned - but obviously I don't condone her behaviour!"

She also revealed she doesn't think Tracy has thought about the consequences as she risks losing Nate and their daughter.

"Caleb is constantly saying that he doesn't want to lose his family, and Tracy is saying that she doesn't want to lose Nate and Frankie," she said. "But the big picture is that Tracy could be left with nothing and I don't think she's quite realised that.

"She's finally got a big family around her. She's got people helping her with Frankie. She's got stability, which is all she ever wanted, but it could all get blown up in smoke. Personally, I don't think she's thought that through enough. She's very aware that she could lose Nate. She's probably under the illusion that she won't lose Frankie and will just lose their family set-up. But really, she could stand to lose everything."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
