Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Dan Spencer (Liam Fox) has an explosive storyline ahead, one that will strain the relationship between him and his daughter Amelia (Daisy Campbell).

In upcoming scenes, mechanic Dan will be formally charged with GBH after a violent attack on Lloyd, the new villain in town.

With the pressure of potentially going to prison, Dan tries to drown his sorrows with a few drinks, which makes him easy to anger and leads to the scene that surprised the actors.

Liam and Daisy sat down to speak to Digital Spy and other media outlets about the tense storyline and how Daisy felt "awful" while filming it.

In a drunken state, Dan unfairly blames his charge on Amelia's social media activity, causing the pair to argue.

On Dan's uncharacteristic outburst, Daisy said: "It actually felt like my own dad was shouting at me! It's the first time that Dan and Amelia have been like that."

"We've never had that sort of scene," Liam chimed in.

Amelia is always on social media, as an influencer it is part of her job, but unbeknownst to her she had been talking to Lloyd who was posing as a woman.

Daisy added: "Dan's never flipped out at Amelia, she's always the one to flip out. In this situation he flips out at Amelia, and it felt awful, it felt like I was actually getting shouted at!

"I saw a different side to the character of Dan as well. That needed to happen to bring up everything that's going to happen."

Liam said: "He's feeling sorry for himself, he's drunk. He knows it's not Amelia's fault, but after having a drink, he's decided the whole world's against him."

"He's blamed Amelia 100%," Daisy replied.

Will the fallout from their argument result in a permanent rift between the pair?

Daisy hinted that although the pair may reconcile, it will weigh heavily on her on-screen character, and it could potentially play havoc for her with making future decisions.

Daisy said: "I think she will come to terms of understanding it and she'll accept it but I just think, with the whole thing that's happening now, it'll always stay in Amelia's head.

"It'll always be sat on her shoulders, but I think she will come to terms with having to accept what he said. It felt like Liam was shouting at me, but she'll forgive him eventually."

Liam felt optimistic about the on-screen family members forgiving each other and ended: "Knowing Dan and Amelia, it won't last forever."

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
