Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Charity Dingle and Mackenzie Boyd have tied the knot in Emmerdale — but not without complications.

This week has been filled with tension for the newlyweds, between Charity's feud with sister-in-law Moira Dingle and Mack concealing that Chloe Harris was about to give birth to his child.

In Thursday's (April 20) dramatic hour-long episode, Charity and Mack were still in their jail cells after their unfortunate adventure in a stolen A-Team van.

While they were eventually released, the couple were heartbroken to learn that it was now too late for them to get married as planned.

Mack tried to pull out all the stops to ensure the wedding went ahead, even enlisting Cain Dingle to stall vicar Charles Anderson until the couple could arrive to exchange vows.

The pair got unlikely assistance from PC Swirling pulling up in the stolen A-Team van to personally drive them to the venue. Charity and Mack arrived at the very last moment before Charles was leaving.

The mood changed when Sarah informed Mack that Chloe was currently in labour, having earlier been rushed to the hospital when she started having contractions.

Viewers saw Chloe sending an urgent text message to someone, and viewers saw Mack reading a message on his phone after ducking out of the festivities.

Meanwhile, Mack was debating what he was going to do about missing the birth of his child when Nate arrived to encourage him to come along for the wedding. During the period where Mack went missing, Charity assumed he'd got cold feet until the groom showed up ready to move ahead with the nuptials.

After the pair exchanged vows, Charles finally pronounced them man and wife. The soap cut to the hospital where Chloe was in the grips of labour. Suddenly, a visitor joined her in the delivery room — it was Amy Wyatt rather than Mack who'd come to support her as she gave birth.

Over at the wedding reception, Mack was once again feeling awkward when Charity led a toast to Chloe, though he assured his bride that everything was "perfect".

While Mack's secret didn't come out in this wedding special, producer Jane Hudson has promised he will be caught out over his lies "very soon".

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1, and streams on ITVX.
