Emmerdale star Natalie Ann Jamieson has opened up about how her character finds out Kyle's shocking secret.

The actress, who plays Kyle's mother Amy Wyatt on the ITV soap, reveals that he is set to confess to her that it was him who killed Al Chapman.

Currently, Kyle's dad Cain Dingle is in prison on remand for pleading guilty to the murder to protect his son.

Natalie told The Mirror that it was a tough and "draining" day filming the confession scenes, but that Huey Quinn, who plays Kyle, was brilliant.

"We filmed it one day, just the two of us on set. There was lots of crying… it was draining," she said. "There's a lot for Huey to do in that episode so I was just so proud of him."

She said: "Any mum would do all they could to protect their child, especially at that age," and so she found that part of the scenes easy.

She explained: "On my scripts, I had stage directions that read, 'Like a lioness protecting her cub' so you can see how they wanted it to be played."

Al was killed last week after a final showdown with his arch-nemesis Cain, which saw the two clashing over Al's affair with Cain's sister Chas.

The two men were seen fighting to reach a gun that Cain had brought along to intimidate his rival, but it wasn't clear who fired the shot.

In Friday's episode, Cain appeared in court for his plea hearing where he pled guilty to the murder, which was a shock for everyone, especially his wife Moira.

Cain admitted to Moira that it was Kyle who pulled the trigger later when she was visiting him in prison.

Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV, and streams on the ITV Hub.
