Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle continued her downward spiral on Monday (December 28) after botching a robbery with Mackenzie Boyd.

Mackenzie has caused nothing but trouble for Charity since arriving in the village, having already prompted her split from her fiancée Vanessa Woodfield, and dragged her back into a life of crime.

Before Christmas, the pair teamed up to stash some stolen goods, only to be caught in the act by a disappointed Chas.

In tonight's scenes, Mackenzie and Charity decided to try and rob a delivery driver as part of a new scheme (not very festive, is it?), but the plan soon backfired on them.

Donning a red wig, Charity pretended she'd broken down in the middle of nowhere, prompting the delivery driver to offer his help. As he took a look at her engine, Mackenzie emerged from the bushes in black clothing.

With the driver distracted, Charity hit him over the head with a bat, knocking him unconscious.

The pair then began to load up their van with the expensive goods, but the driver soon regained consciousness and stopped them in their tracks.

Moments later, however, the pair were saved as Aaron Dingle arrived at the scene and tricked the driver, locking him in the back of his delivery van.

In the closing scenes, Mackenzie and Charity's flirtatious behaviour towards each other intensified, before eventually going off to bed with each other.

How long will Charity remain on her self-destructive path?
