Emmerdale spoilers follow.

Emmerdale's Jamie Tate has been a villain throughout most of this year, but he's going to have a rough time of it over the New Year period, to the point where we might even feel a bit sorry for him.

Viewers will remember that Jamie previously agreed to sign away his parental rights to daughter Millie in an agreement with his estranged wife Andrea, who then provided him with a false alibi over Moira's hit and run (even though he was totally to blame).

It's an uneasy agreement, however, and Andrea tries to dissolve the tension by allowing Jamie to look after Millie on New Year's Day, on the condition that his mum Kim (Claire King) cannot be around.

Kim, as you might expect, does not take this well. At all.

What to Read Next

Things get worse for Jamie when he later has to announce a round of bonus-cuts at work, but Gabby Thomas (Rosie Bentham) is on hand to comfort him.

Unfortunately for Jamie, however, his troubles aren't going away just yet, as Millie later goes missing on New Year's Day while under Dawn Taylor (Olivia Bromley) and Jamie's supervision.

Will Jamie be able to find her – and keep Andrea from finding out? We'll have to see how it goes.

Before we get to that dramatic storyline though, we've also got a Christmas wedding and a surprise return for Debbie Dingle to look forward to as part of Emmerdale's festive storylines.

Emmerdale airs these scenes on New Year's Day at 7pm on ITV.
