Emmerdale's new vicar Charles will be immediately drawn into the DI Malone murder storyline next week.
Show bosses have brought in Kevin Mathurin in the role of Charles, who's joining the ITV soap as a new regular character.
In scenes airing after Christmas, current vicar Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) continues to struggle with her terrible secret after moving DI Malone's body out of the village graveyard.
Harriet pays a regretful visit to Malone's new burial spot on Home Farm grounds and it's obvious that she's nowhere near close to moving on from the situation.

Later on, Charles comes looking for Harriet and shares some big news about the future.
Charles tells Harriet that their parishes are merging, so they'll be working together for the foreseeable future.
Struggling with everything, Harriet becomes overwhelmed again and ends up marking New Year alone next to Malone's new grave.

The following day, Charles approaches Harriet and shares his suspicion that one of the graves outside the church has been disturbed.
Harriet worries, knowing that Charles must be referring to the former hiding place for Malone's body. Can Harriet ease Charles's concerns, or is Malone's murder in danger of being exposed?
Emmerdale bosses announced Charles's arrival in November. His son Ethan, played by Emile John, will also be joining the cast.
Emmerdale airs these scenes in the week commencing Monday, December 28 on ITV.
