Emmerdale has set up its Christmas storyline involving Charity Dingle teaming up with Mackenzie Boyd in a series of robberies, as she makes her return to the world of crime.

She became involved when Mackenzie (Lawrence Robb) decided to "help" Jimmy King do his deliveries when he complained he was running behind, by stealing his keys and taking the van himself.

Charity (Emma Atkins) watched the exchange between the pair tonight (December 18) and later found a warehouse manifest from one of Jimmy's haulage clients in Mackenzie's bag.

It didn't take Charity long to realise that he was planning a robbery and she revealed that she once part-owned the haulage firm, which surprised him.

"What are the chances you forget you saw that?" Mack asked about the manifest.

Charity quipped back: "About the same odds as Cain kissing you under the mistletoe."

He then admitted he wasn't planning on stealing from Jimmy anymore, but he was now targeting the warehouse that he delivers to instead as it was much bigger.

Charity then made it clear she wanted to be involved in whatever he was planning, which he wasn't keen on.

"Well everyone always thinks I'm out for myself and while they're busy thinking that I may as well be earning."

Mackenzie asked: "And what if I don't want someone clearly in self-destruct mode getting involved?"

She replied: "It's very cute that you think you even get a say."

After Christmas viewers will see the pair attempt several robberies, none of which go their way and will see one of them turn on the other.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
