Emmerdale spoilers follow.
Jai and Laurel prepared to go to hospital in tonight's Emmerdale (December 10) and received some shocking news about their unborn child.
In an attempt to keep their pregnancy news private, Jai told Gabby that they were heading to town to do Christmas shopping and asked her to babysit.
The nervous couple spoke with their midwife, who confirmed that their unborn child had been diagnosed with Down's syndrome.
After the appointment, Laurel and Jai tried to process the diagnosis and agreed that no-one else should know about the pregnancy.

Elsewhere, Gabby and Arthur started looking for Christmas presents and found the baby scan from last week.
When Laurel and Jai returned, Gabby and Arthur welcomed them home with a card congratulating them on the pregnancy.
Laurel confronted Jai about keeping hold of the scan photograph and his true feelings towards the news – she then added that he was making her feel pressured into keeping the baby.
Gabby and Laurel collected Christmas decorations and had a conversation about the pregnancy. Gabby told Laurel that she'd support her decision whether she decides to keep the baby or not.

Rhona saw them in the street and decided to join their conversation, but Laurel was eager to leave and Rhona was left wondering what was wrong with her.
Rhona went to the church to check in with Laurel and saw that she'd been crying – when Laurel didn't want to talk, Rhona kept pushing and Laurel snapped at her so she left her alone.
After their exchange of words, Laurel told Rhona that she was pregnant and that the baby has Down's syndrome.
Elsewhere, Jai confided in his sister Priya and she reminded him of his daughter Eliza who has a disability.
"Yeah, it took you a bit more time to adjust but you did it," she said.
Jai replied: "I hardly see her."
Priya added: "That's because of geography, not disability. Jai, you're being too hard on yourself."
Priya also reminded Jai that he should tell Laurel to keep the baby if that's something he wants, otherwise he may regret it.
After Laurel told Rhona about the diagnosis, Rhona opened up about her experience of raising Leo, her son who has a disability. Laurel said she was still unsure about whether she'd keep her baby and Rhona told her that she was angry and disappointed with her.
"For the record, Laurel, my son is the best thing that has ever happened to me! The best thing. He's just a good as your kids, okay? In fact, he's better," Rhona said.
When Laurel returned home, she told Jai that she would consider keeping the baby.
