Emmerdale star Bradley Johnson has spoken about the possibility that Vinny Dingle's father Paul Ashdale isn't all he seems.
Next week's episodes see Paul (Reece Dinsdale) make a mysterious phone call, which will suggest to viewers that he may not be the "changed man" that he appears to be.
In recent weeks, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley) has repeatedly warned Vinny that Paul isn't to be trusted. She's struggling to forgive him for his past mistakes, which saw him abandon their family after running up massive gambling debts.

Speaking about the possibility that Paul is still hiding something, Bradley commented: "Maybe Vinny needs to be wary of Paul. Addiction is a hard thing and it never really goes away.

"People can say they've changed, but Paul might be putting on a front just for Vinny. He may have a bit of a darker side. Paul has been through a lot in his life and maybe things aren't everything they seem to be.
"Vinny needs not to get in too deep, keep his wits about him and try not to get in the middle of Mandy and Paul's drama."
Emmerdale's upcoming scenes see Mandy accuse Paul of stealing when charity money goes missing from David Metcalfe's shop.

When David (Matthew Wolfenden) later announces that the cash was simply misplaced, Vinny turns against Mandy for constantly bad-mouthing his father.
Bradley continued: "Vinny feels like he's in the middle of both of them. He just wants them to get back together so they can have a happy family. He feels stuck in the middle of both parties.
"If he was forced to choose between them, it's got to be Mandy. Even though she isn't his biological mum, she stood by him from the day his father left him and she brought him up.
"Even though Paul has rocked up and they're getting on great, Mandy has been there from day one and has never left his side."

Asked why Vinny isn't listening to Mandy, Bradley replied: "Mandy is an opinionated person and isn't having any of it at the moment, as Paul wrecked her dream of a happy family. But Vinny's never had this father figure or a stable home life.
"He's found a home he loves with the Dingles now and the family he always wanted. The missing piece for him is to have that father figure in his life and that perfect, happy ending."
Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
