Emmerdale's Vanessa Woodfield and Charity Dingle will clash and drift apart as Vanessa begins her treatment for cancer.
In scenes airing next week, Vanessa (Michelle Hardwick) goes to her first day of chemotherapy alone after she urges Charity (Emma Atkins) to stay and look after a poorly Moses at home.
At the hospital, Kerry Wyatt walks past just as Vanessa begins her treatment, and she decides to keep Vanessa company. Although the pair haven't been getting along since Vanessa learned of Kerry and Amy's involvement in her father Frank Clayton's death, there appears to be a thawing between them.

However, Charity reacts furiously when she later visits the hospital and sees Kerry with Vanessa.
Charity and Vanessa continue to row at home, and a frustrated Vanessa decides to go to Rhona Goskirk for support.

Things get out of control when Vanessa responds angrily to an insult from a student there, and the argument that happens as a result is recorded on video. Charity sees the footage on social media and fumes at Vanessa.
Vanessa feels bad while Charity starts drinking. It's not long before the couple try to make up.
However, this doesn't go to plan. Vanessa asks Charity an important question, but Charity hesitates in her response. As the week ends, Vanessa and Charity continue struggling to cope.
Emmerdale currently airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7pm on ITV.
