Emmerdale's Will Taylor made a controversial decision in an attempt to save the church in tonight's scenes (January 6).
As we know, Harriet Finch (Katherine Dow Blyton) was recently visited by the new Bishop and learned that the village church may be closed in an attempt to cut costs. As the roof is in need of extensive repairs, one of the options under consideration is to close the building down altogether and relocate Harriet to Essex.
Having heard about the situation, Harriet's partner Will (Dean Andrews) has made a plan to secretly steal some of the expensive items from the church, sell them, and then use the funds to make a donation towards the repairs.
And in tonight's episode, the beginning of this storyline started to play out as we saw Harriet step back into the church only to be left horrified to find all the walls bare. It was then that we saw all of the stolen items in the back of Will's car.
Speaking about Will's controversial actions recently, Harriet actress Katherine Dow Blyton explained: "Will has done all of this with the best of intentions, because after selling items that belonged to the church, he has now put the money in the donation box so they now have enough for the repairs to the roof. It's like a double-edged sword."
She continued: "Harriet gives Will some opportunities to admit what he's done, then she confronts him and she's very, very disappointed.

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
