Emmerdale star Isabel Hodgins has opened up about Victoria Sugden's reaction to Wendy Posner's move to the village, admitting that she would not be able to deal with the situation like her character is.

Isabel has revealed the Victoria will feel "exhausted" and "frustrated" when Wendy (Susan Cookson) decides to move permanently into the village. Wendy, the mother of Victoria's rapist Lee, intimidated her son's victim throughout the aftermath of her sexual assault.

Although Wendy will try to make amends by rushing to Victoria's aid when she fears she's gone into early labour, Isabel admitted that Victoria feels as though Wendy is stopping her from moving on to "the next chapter of her life".

"If I was in that situation, I would not be dealing with it like Victoria is! But she's been through a lot – the rape and finding out she's pregnant has changed her," the actress explained.

"Although it's quite obviously not ideal, hating someone is exhausting. Victoria doesn't want Wendy in the village, but she thinks there's nothing she can do. She wants to keep calm for the baby because stress isn't good for a pregnant lady."

Isabel added that Victoria "wonders why she can't catch a break" and sees Wendy as someone holding her back. "She was raped and dealt with that as best she could. She's pregnant and waiting for the next chapter of her life to start and Wendy is stopping her from doing that," she said.
