Emmerdale star Laura Norton has explained why Kerry Wyatt finally confesses her guilt over the factory fire.
Next week's episodes see Kerry come clean to Tracy Metcalfe (Amy Walsh) that she was responsible for the tragic blaze that killed Frank Clayton.
Tracy spots a clue to Kerry's guilt when she finds her and Amy's passports and one-way travel tickets, showing that they were planning to flee together a few weeks ago.
Although Kerry does have an opportunity to keep lying, she makes the surprising decision to finally tell Tracy the terrible truth.

Speaking about the tense showdown scenes, Laura explained: "Tracy is piecing everything together slowly. It's a weird moment, as it doesn't come out of high drama or a huge argument.

"It's actually quite a calming moment. Kerry thinks there's no other way out of this, because she literally can't keep lying anymore. She's faced with Tracy, it's one question too many and it would be one lie too many.
"Kerry decides: 'I'm going to have to get this off my chest'. It's a relief, but she also feels the pain of having to admit to somebody – who she has actually grown to love – that she's been lying to her face all this time.
"It's also the pain of knowing it was a huge accident, and probably if she would have just told the truth in the first place, they would never be in the mess they're in now. Confessing doesn't feel good, but it feels right."

Kerry initially tries to protect her daughter Amy (Natalie Ann Jamieson) by making out that she wasn't involved in the robbery and the fire. However, when Amy joins them at the house, she refuses to let her mum take the full blame and further truths come to light.
Emmerdale spoilers for next week have revealed that the drama comes to a head with the Wyatts locking Tracy in the house, wanting to stop her from going to the police.
When Tracy makes a run for it, the situation gets out of hand and culminates in Kerry being pushed to the ground and knocked unconscious.
Laura continued: "All Kerry and Amy want is a chance to explain what happened. They think if Tracy knew the truth, she would understand. Tracy obviously doesn't want to hear it. She's also in fear, even though Kerry and Amy were never going to hurt her.

"Tracy runs out of the door. Kerry is hot on her heels and tries to stop her. Tracy physically retaliates and Kerry ends up getting hurt. Tracy throws her onto the floor and Kerry really hurts herself.
"Kerry is unconscious straight away because there's a head injury. It's really instant, there's blood and it's a scary scene. Tracy didn't mean for it to happen – in the same way that Kerry and Amy didn't with Frank. But she finds herself in the same situation."
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
