Emmerdale has revealed a huge secret about Lydia Hart following the discovery of human bones at the school earlier this week.
Viewers will know that the ITV soap has launched an unsettling storyline after Jessie Dingle (Sandra Marvin) revealed that human remains had been found during building work at the local school.
Tonight's episode (July 4) saw the police confirming that the bones belonged to a baby and that the mother was a 16-year-old girl named Jenny Finn and, by the end of the episode, the soap also revealed that 'Jenny' is actually a young Lydia (Karen Blick), confirming viewers' theories that Lydia is the villager at the centre of the mystery.

Lydia's big secret was rumbled at the end of tonight's double bill as Sam Dingle (James Hooton) broke the news about the bones belonging to a baby and Lydia could be seen looking distressed.
The scene then cut to the police station, where they'd managed to find a photo of their top suspect, Jenny Finn.

"Jennifer Finn, went missing from Hotten Grange Children's Home November 1990," the police explained. "From what forensics have said about how long this kid's been in the ground, she's our most likely candidate for the mother.
"Have it copied for tomorrow's press conference. Let's see if we can't track this woman down, see why she's done a runner."
Of course, Emmerdale isn't giving away all of its secrets in one go – and we're still no closer to learning why the baby came to be buried in the first place – but with the police planning a press conference to launch an appeal for information, it won't be long before Jenny/Lydia's picture is made public.
How will Lydia react when her secret is exposed to the villagers? And what does this mean for her future on the soap – or her future with Sam?
Emmerdale currently airs weekdays at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
