Nicola King is somewhat deflated ahead of the local election results in a new preview clip from Emmerdale.
In a preview clip from tonight's (May 3) episode, Nicola awaits the results of the election, though has all but given up hope that she stands any chance of winning.
Despite an optimistic campaign, she's found rival Hilary to be a rather formidable campaigner, especially after the latter has proved popular with the locals.
As she drowns her sorrows in the pub with her team, Nicola says: "This is real life, and in real life the underdogs don't win.
"They get kicked out of the kennel and told they're not getting any more bones! Get used to the fact I'm gonna lose."
Former Brookside star Gabrielle Glaister joined the soap in the guest role of Hilary, and appears in a handful of episodes.
