Things went from bad to worse for Rhona Goskirk and Pete Barton in tonight's (February 25) Emmerdale.

Rhona (Zoe Henry) was involved a horrendous accident recently when she was knocked over by a tractor, and during the emergency surgery that followed doctors discovered some non-cancerous growths in her womb, which led to them telling her she may need a hysterectomy.

This would mean that Rhona and Pete (Anthony Quinlan) couldn't have children, prompting the couple to have a discussion about their future and it looked like they had split for good – although tonight we saw Pete say he still wanted to be with Rhona.

Despite that, Rhona admitted that she thinks the issue of not having more children will make Pete leave her down the line and said that she thinks it's best for him to move out for the time being.

"You don't want to close your options when it comes to kids, Pete, and you shouldn't have to," Rhona said.

"What matters now is that we're honest with each other. I don't want to lure myself into a false sense of security and then six months down the line you leave me."

And even though we all understand that Rhona has a lot to process, viewers still wanted to tell her she wasn't making the right decision:

If that's not enough for the couple to be coping with, the doctors have offered Rhona painkillers and actress Zoe Henry previously stated that this will be a real test for the character, who has previous struggled with an addiction to painkillers.

"Rhona doesn't trust herself – what ex-addict does? It's a source of conflict and worry for her," she said.

"I don't think that issue will ever leave her. She knows that she had a relapse after she became clean, so she knows the pitfalls and knows her limits."

Emmerdale continues tomorrow (February 26) at 7pm on ITV.
