EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has announced a new character who will serve as a love interest for Linda Carter, and it's a familiar face for fans of Casualty (and Heartbeat, if you want to go even further back): Jason Durr.

His character, Clive Masters, will be introduced this summer as part of a plot to save the Walford community centre when it's at risk of redevelopment.

In upcoming scenes, Walford residents band together to save the centre, with Linda leading the charge. Supportive councillor Clive joins her, and the two strike up a friendship.

But Linda soon realises that they've got some real chemistry. Could it lead to something blossoming between them?

Durr, who played David Hide in Casualty between 2016 and 2023 and Mike Bradley in Heartbeat between 1997 and 2003, is signed up for just a guest role at this time, so it may not be a long-term romance.

But still, after Linda's brief dalliance with Max Branning — now engaged to Cindy Beale but having an affair with Priya Nandra-Hart — even a short fling is worth getting excited for.

In the announcement, Durr said: "Few shows command their place in the national conversation quite like EastEnders, so I'm delighted to be joining the cast as Clive Masters. Working with the wonderful Kellie Bright has been an absolute joy and pleasure from day one."

"All the cast, crew and production staff have been incredibly generous, welcoming and good humoured. I'm excited for audiences to meet Clive and see what's in store," added the actor, who has already started filming his scenes.

And Linda isn't the only EastEnders character getting a romantic plot line soon, as Kojo Asare decides that he wants to find love. After wing-manning for Harry Mitchell for so long, will it finally be Kojo's time?

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
