EastEnders aired a worrying Gray Atkins twist amid Jordan Fox's ongoing devastating storyline. The youngster was hit by Ian Beale's car while he was driving a drunk Kathy Beale home.

Jordan was rushed to the hospital, where mum Chelsea Fox was given the devastating news that he may never walk again. On top of that, she also learned that her mother Denise Fox has been diagnosed with blood cancer.

Overwhelmed by her responsibilities and struggling to make ends meet, Chelsea confided in her sister Libby that Jordan's great-grandmother and dad Gray's grandmother, Sheila Atkins, had been sending cheques for Jordan.

Chelsea had not been cashing the cheques as she did not want money linked to Gray, but seeing her sister struggling, Libby contacted Sheila for help.

Sheila offers financial help for Jordan, which Chelsea initially accepts but later returns, feeling guilty about taking the money and wanting to earn it for herself.

However, after learning that Ian has hired an aggressive lawyer to help fight his case, Chelsea once again accepts the cheque.

But as Chelsea leaves, Sheila hides a photo of Jordan beside a picture of Gray in her purse.

Despite saying she no longer has anything to do with Gray and hasn't seen him in years, this seems to suggest she is lying. But why, and what could this mean for Chelsea and Jordan?

It was reported last month that serial killer Gray would be returning to Walford for a stint from prison, which has not yet been confirmed by soap bosses.

According to The Sun, Gray, played by Toby-Alexander Smith, is expected to return in a surprise cameo almost four years after his character was arrested and imprisoned for a string of grisly murders, including that of wife Chantelle Atkins following months of abuse.

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
