EastEnders has detailed a tense confrontation between Priya Nandra-Hart and Max Branning, in the aftermath of their surprise cheating scandal. Earlier this week, Max made a shock declaration at Vicki Fowler and Ross Marshall's wedding reception by proposing to Cindy Beale.
Cindy was stunned by Max's impulsive gesture and turned him down, which led to an unexpected chain of events. Max drowned his sorrows and was joined by Priya, who was heartbroken about her partner Ravi's sudden exit that day.

As they headed back to Max's flat for more drinks, Priya tried to seduce Max, and the pair ended up sleeping together. Later that evening, Cindy returned having had a change of heart, and accepted Max's proposal – unaware that he cheated on her hours earlier.
New pictures from upcoming scenes show that Max makes his and Cindy's engagement official in next week's episodes by getting her an actual ring, and the happy couple look more loved-up than ever as they share their news.

But after the drama of the previous evening, Peter is more sceptical about the situation. Having watched his mum turn down Max's proposal only hours earlier, he isn't totally convinced by this romantic display.
Peter pulls Max to the side and warns him about the repercussions for everyone involved, wanting to make sure that he won't hurt his mum now that their relationship has gotten far more serious.
Max is consumed by guilt following his act of infidelity, so he takes action and confronts Priya, strongly suspecting that she is still trying to get his attention – after all, they are still work colleagues.

But Max is wrong and Priya swiftly dismisses his claims. The pair agree to move past their scandalous one-night stand and forget it even happened, but Max remains uneasy about the secret. How long will Max and Priya's cheating scandal remain under wraps?
The events of this week's led to a number of fresh theories about the New Year's Day flashforward episode. Since Max and Cindy are now engaged, it makes sense that Cindy could be the mysterious bride, but there could be more twists over the next few months.
