EastEnders spoilers follow for Wednesday’s episode (25 June), which is available to watch now on streaming service BBC iPlayer and hasn’t yet aired on TV.

EastEndersElaine Knight has made a huge mistake with tragic consequences – and the police are now involved.

Elaine has struggled since her recent split with George, though this week she decided to throw herself into organising a party at The Vic for Patrick, against Linda’s best judgment.

She put the finishing touches to Patrick’s birthday bash in today’s episode, but it wasn’t quite the classy affair that Yolande had in mind.

As the celebrations got underway, Elaine wasn’t pleased when George arrived. She confronted her ex, furious that he planned to get back the money he had put into the pub, and tensions flared between them once again.

Meanwhile, Denzel had his friends over while he was looking after the younger kids at home. Joel turned up uninvited but won Denzel round when he suggested that they get some more alcohol.

The pair approached Elaine, who was getting increasingly drunk, and asked if they could have a glass of the alcoholic punch. She agreed, but the teens then secretly took two jugs home.

But a dangerous situation soon unfolded when Denzel took his eye off the ball, and Raymond, Bert and Ernie drank a whole jug of the punch themselves.

Elaine’s behaviour continued to escalate, and she interrupted Patrick’s speech by insulting George yet again. However, the party ended abruptly when Joel told Denise that the kids were in danger.

Denise rushed home and tended Raymond, Bert and Ernie, with an ambulance on the way to take them to hospital.

Back in The Vic, Linda raged at Elaine for her irresponsible behaviour, after discovering that she had let Denzel and Joel drink the alcohol in the first place.

Elaine was unwilling to accept the blame, so Linda gave her mum some home truths and admitted that she wasn’t coping with looking after the pub alone.

As Elaine fought back, the police arrived to investigate how a minor was served alcohol on the premises. Has she put The Vic’s future in jeopardy?
