EastEnders confirmed another major blow for Nicola Mitchell in the ongoing storyline regarding her son's ex-girlfriend and Teddy's new development plans.

Nicola has been harbouring a secret ever since her arrival in Walford back in November - with the character eventually unveiled as the culprit behind the disappearance of Shireen Bashar, the former girlfriend of her son Harry.

Recent weeks have seen Nicola grow closer with husband Teddy following a period of estrangement, though he had secretly been planning a property deal in their former town of Dartford.

Things took a turn, however, when Teddy outlined the location of the building, with Nicola becoming nervous. It soon became apparent that her change in mood was caused by her involvement in Shireen's death, with her body being buried on the site of the building plans.

Tuesday's (22 April) instalment began as Teddy prepared for his meeting with the mayor, with the pair due to take a photo on the site. Nicola got a shock when she was informed that work would get underway later that week.

After feigning a headache to avoid the meeting, Nicola resolved to scupper the deal before Shireen's body could be discovered. She furiously left a message over the phone for a mystery individual, ordering a meeting at Harry's Barn in the process.

It turned out that the individual was Benji, the man who buried the body, with the pair discussing their next move. Nicola didn't like what she heard, however, as Benji seemed unfazed as she tried to threaten him into action.

Then in a twist, Benji revealed that he had buried Nicola's missing bracelet with Shireen's body as an insurance policy, leaving Nicola backed into a corner.

Running out of options, viewers then saw a panicked Nicola attempt to recruit Ravi in her mission to remove the body, though he was reluctant to get involved.

Will Nicola find a way out as the walls begin to close in? And will her family discover the true extent of her actions?

EastEnders airs on Mondays-Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
