EastEnders spoilers follow.

EastEnders has revealed Reiss Colwell's new plan in the soap's ongoing murder plot.

Reiss and Sonia Fowler were both arrested for the murder of Reiss' wife Debbie in August, with the police unexpectedly arriving during their engagement party at The Vic.

While Reiss is guilty of killing his wife, Sonia was the only person placed at Debbie's care home – the scene of the crime. As a result, she has been in prison ever since.

Bianca Jackson found out the truth in November, after watching incriminating CCTV footage, which showed that Reiss was at the care home on the evening of Debbie's death.

After demanding that Reiss tell the truth, he eventually confessed to Bianca that he killed his wife, not Sonia.

To stop Bianca from going to the police, Reiss lured her to a sound-proofed lock-up, which he said contained evidence that would clear Sonia's name. After they arrived, Reiss used a blanket to smother Bianca and has since kept her captive in the lock-up.

In scenes set to air on Thursday, January 9, Reiss gathers the residents of Walford in The Vic to discuss his new plan for Sonia's upcoming trial.

However, it quickly becomes clear that not everyone is as encouraged as he is. Is anyone onto Reiss' plans?
