EastEnders spoilers follow
EastEnders is lining up a shocking accident for pregnant Whitney Dean ahead of her exit.
Shona McGarty confirmed her decision to leave the role of Whitney last July, and her final scenes are expected to air later this year.
Pasty Palmer is reprising her role as Whitney's step-mum Bianca as part of her exit story, which is currently being filmed on location.
Brand new paparazzi pictures show Patsy and Shona working alongside James Farrar (Zack) and Natalie Cassidy (Sonia) on the shoot, which will see Whitney caught up in a devastating accident.
Whitney and Zack have recently learned that they are expecting another baby together and she can be seen looking heavily pregnant in the dramatic scenes.
What to Read Next
It's already been confirmed that Bianca's return plot begins when Whitney and Zack visit her in Milton Keynes, in a special episode focusing on Whitney.
As the story unfolds, Whitney will walk into danger while trying to look out for a mysterious young girl.
Whitney will be joined by Bianca, Zack and Sonia in attempting to help the girl, but the situation gets out of hand when they come across her drug-addict mother and a violent scuffle breaks out.
Tragedy soon strikes when Whitney is hit by a car, sparking speculation that she could be about to meet a heartbreaking end.
Zack and Sonia can be seen looking on in horror as they witness Whitney being run over, but fans will have to see whether this is linked to her exit or not.
Explaining her decision to leave the show after 15 years, Shona said: "It's going to be the end of an era, or an earring, as the EastEnders saying goes.
"I've loved my time in Walford, but with the character of Whitney, bless her, she's had some awful things happen to her, and I think she needs a break.
"The door's open and I could always come back in the future. But at the moment, I want to pursue things that are in my heart, like singing — stuff that I've been doing since childhood and dreaming about. EastEnders has been amazing; I just want to do other things."
EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
