Unsettled, Linda continues to drink throughout the evening with Alfie and even twists the truth to put him off the scent. But what exactly does he know, and what will happen next?

Discussing next week's scenes, Shane Richie – who plays Alfie – said: "Alfie has no idea what’s happened over Christmas.

"During a conversation, Linda explains she’s done something awful and she says something to Alfie which gives him some pause for thought. But given Linda’s drunken state, it’s up for debate how much he actually takes on board."

EastEnders airs on Mondays - Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The show also streams on BBC iPlayer, where most episodes drop early at 6am ahead of their TV broadcast.
