EastEnders spoilers follow.
Janine is on borrowed time in EastEnders, and while she hopes that everything will work out for her with Mick, viewers are aware that her downfall is on the way.
Charlie Brooks, who plays Janine, has been talking about the story and what is to come, and she has some thoughts about why Janine has fallen for Mick in such a big way.
"I play Janine with truth. She's got her daddy issues, and I think she sees a lot of her dad in Mick, and for that reason, she is in love with him," Brooks said. "I think he makes her feel a way that nobody has made her feel before.
"I think she likes the version of herself that he brings out. But where there's love, there's danger, and when you develop feelings so strong for somebody, you're open to being hurt, and she's got a mask on a lot of the time.
"I think she hides a lot of her pain through grandiosity and all that sort of thing, but I do think she loves him, and I do think the Vic, all of that, is the cherry on top of the cake for her. It couldn't be more perfect."
What to Read Next
As for whether Janine is ready for what another shot at being a mum could be like, Charlie is unsure.
"Janine's not the most maternal of people. I respected the honesty Janine had about whether this was right for her instead of just going, 'I'm going to keep the baby, and that will help me keep my man', and there was real concern about her ability to be a mother as well.
"I think she has a deep desire to be the mother that she never had, and for her to have the father by her side. I think she struggles with Scarlett because she sees a lot of Michael Moon in her daughter, and she really struggles with that connection."
Charlie will be leaving the role of Janine once again in the New Year, and with an incriminating photo in her home that she has no idea about, the clock is definitely ticking before her lies are exposed.
