EastEnders fans were left shocked recently when they spotted a reference to Ben Mitchell being a killer in an episode that aired two years before he offed Heather Trott in 2012.
Due to the cast and crew not being able to record new material because of coronavirus-related production shutdowns, the long-running BBC soap has been revisiting some of its most memorable episodes.
Most recently, it looked back on Amira and Syed's wedding – particularly the run-up to the nuptials that saw the latter come out as gay to his mother Zainab Masood (Nina Wadia), which was originally broadcast on New Year's Day 2010.
During the ceremony, Denise Fox (Diane Parish), daughter Chelsea (Tiana Benjamin) and pal Manda Best (Josie Lawrence) joke about how moody Zainab seemed despite her son tying the knot.

"Positively murderous, she was," Denise said, as Manda referenced another storyline that saw one of Albert Square's residents murdered just a few days prior, replying: "Oh, maybe she's the one that clobbered Archie Mitchell?"

"We all know it was a Mitchell that done it," Chelsea chimed in, as Darren Miller (Charlie G Hawkins) laughed: "Maybe it was Ben... Tap-dancing him to death?"
While loyal viewers know that it was Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) who was responsible for Archie's death, audiences tuning in last night (Tuesday, July 7) were creeped out by the fact that Darren's casual remark actually foreshadowed Ben's behaviour in a later episode.
In March 2012, Ben (then played by Joshua Pascoe) confronted the mother of Darren's son Heather (Cheryl Fergison) after he thought she grassed him – and his father Phil – up to the police.
Ben wound up whacking Heather with a picture frame, causing her to fatally hit her head on the kitchen counter.
EastEnders returns with another classic episode on Tuesday, July 14 at 7.30pm on BBC One.
