EastEnders has shared a first look at an explosive confrontation between Ben Mitchell and Jay Brown to air in tomorrow night's episode.

In tonight's (August 5) trip to Albert Square, Ben (Max Bowden) was seen growing increasingly angry and frustrated when his plan to frame Keanu Taylor for the attack on Phil Mitchell didn't go as smoothly as he wanted and DCI Morgan had more questions for him than he expected.

After he learned that Sharon Mitchell was also supporting Keanu, Ben went to visit his dad in hospital, and the episode ended with him preparing to tamper with Phil's life support equipment.

But in these first-look photos from tomorrow night, it seems that Ben doesn't have too much time to act on his new plan before Jay Brown (Jamie Borthwick) arrives and desperately tries to stop him, prompting Ben to lash out and punch his friend.

Will Ben go through with his plan to end Phil's life, or will Jay help him see sense?

Over the years, Ben and Phil (Steve McFadden) have had a fraught relationship but it's now reached a new low after Ben discovered that his dad had cut him out of his will in favour of Keanu.

Phil ended up in a critical condition after Stacey Fowler (Lacey Turner) hit him over the head with a wrench to stop him beating her husband Martin (James Bye), before fleeing the Square.

The attack has seen Phil put in a medically-induced coma as he fights for his life, and his family have been warned that if he does manage to survive, there's still no way of knowing if any long-term brain damage has been done.

Talking about why Ben wants Keanu to go down for the assault, Bowden recently told Radio Times: "It's got to the point with Keanu where enough is enough. He's taken Ben’s place as the Mitchell son and he wants him out of the picture so Ben doesn't have to live in someone's shadow.

"Ben is so frustrated and broken by the way he's been treated by his dad that he doesn't do anything the easy or simple way – he wants to do things his way.

"Ben likes to be in the driving seat and at that point he is in control of what happens next – when he told Stacey, Kat and Martin he'd 'sort it' he was actually pleased, he gets to do this the way he wants."

EastEnders airs these scenes on Tuesday, August 6 at 8pm on BBC One.
