Speaking exclusively to Inside Soap, Amy explains that viewers will discover a lot more about Christina in upcoming scenes, including her tough experience of being a mother.

"The next few months will be revelatory; you’ll find out a lot about her and why motherhood was so difficult for her – it will explain a lot," she teases.

"I’ve worked as a Samaritan and I’ve realised there’s always a reason why people suffer or have a difficult life. Exploring Christina’s past is a big old rabbit hole you could go down and never come out of!"

Away from the drama, Christina has been one of Debbie’s closest friends since her dementia diagnosis, alongside the likes of Sally, Glenda and Bernie.

The escapades of this group have proved very popular with viewers, and Amy tells us that we can expect to see more of this gorgeous friendship between the ladies of the cobbles.

She smiles: “We so look forward to those scenes, all of us in that group have become mates in real life. I think it will be a regular thing, while Debbie is going through this illness there’ll be lots of scope for her friends to support her.

"I loved the hotel holiday, wasn’t it daft? Their get togethers always end with Christina more drunk than anyone else!"

And as for what Amy would like to see this entertaining group of friends do next?

"You could put them anywhere and they’d have a laugh, although a bottomless brunch might not be a good idea!" she laughs. "They’d have great fun paintballing, though would probably go for one tipple beforehand and end up doing it drunk!"
