Coronation Street icon Claire Sweeney has opened up about filming her final scenes in the ITV soap and her character's "explosive" exit. Claire joined the cast back in 2023 as Cassie Plummer, the estranged mum of Tyrone Dobbs and daughter of Evelyn Plummer.
Since then, Cassie has been at the center of some huge storylines in the soap, including her struggle with drug addiction, a poisoning plot involving Ken Barlow in an attempt to siphon money from him, and her relationship with Steve McDonald.
However, it was announced earlier this year that Claire would be leaving Corrie as she gears up to play the role of Miss Hannigan in the upcoming stage tour of Annie.

Speaking on Ireland AM, the former Brookside star confirmed that she had already filmed her final scenes on the cobbles.
"I didn't realise until my last day of filming how I actually felt. My job has always been so transient," she began. "With theatre, you do a job, nine months is a long run, which I'm doing this time. Or it could be a four-month run, and you love each other for that time, and you move on.

"Some people stick. It's like a train, isn't it? People get on in your life, and the train moves on."
She continued: "Corrie, because I've been there three years, you know Alan Halsall has become part of the family. Simon Gregson, Kate Ford, Ellie [Mulvaney], the crew, they've all become like family, and it was hard saying goodbye. It was very, very emotional."

Claire went on to say she felt "very blessed" and had been given "the most wonderful exit storyline", adding that she "couldn't have asked for better."
Teasing what fans can expect, she said: "I can say one word - explosive," before joking, "That's just me on a night out in Dublin!"
Speaking to Digital Spy at a recent Corrie press event, producer Kate Brooks shared some information about Cassie's exit.
"Tyrone's dad makes an appearance in the show. Needless to say, he comes with quite a bit of drama. It's going to cause quite a lot of friction within that family, obviously, with Cassie's history," she said.
"As you know, Cassie's leaving us, and so it will contribute to her exit, which is going to be massive and quite explosive. It'll be full of all the twists and turns that you can come to expect from an exit story."
Coronation Street airs on weeknights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
