Coronation Street's Kevin Webster digs himself a dangerous hole next week, when he tells his family that he needs to have more chemotherapy – despite having received the all clear.

Ever since Kevin began treatment for testicular cancer, the Webster family have been faced with difficulty after difficulty. So, when Carl hears from his older brother that he's now cancer-free, it's a moment of relief – until Abi reveals her side of the story…

"Abi believes that Kev still has cancer," explains our Corrie source.

"It's baffling for her when Carl mentions that he doesn't anymore. Straight away, Abi explains that their ordeal isn't over, and that Kevin needs to undergo more chemotherapy.

"And that's not the only awkward moment that Abi goes through that day, as she later comes across Kevin and Carl butting heads with one another.

"The reason behind the brothers' clash is still top secret, but it's safe to say that Abi is horrified by the situation…"

Later in the week, Kevin suffers a groin injury while playing a game of football with his son Jack – which provokes Abi to encourage her husband to tell his relatives that he requires further treatment.

Backed into a corner, Kevin is forced to make out to Abi, Tyrone and Debbie that his cancer was unresponsive, meaning that he will need to have more chemotherapy. Will Kevin be able to keep up his lie? Or will he crumble under the pressure of it all?

"The guilt must be overwhelming," our insider continues.

"Health is one of those things in life that you don't fib about, let alone when it comes to a condition as serious as cancer. But for whatever reason, Kevin has done just that – not only to his wife, but now to his best mate and sister too.

"It's particularly cruel on Debbie, who is dealing with her own illness – she could do with any positive news at this point.

"That said, it's tricky to see how he'd be able to get out of this one without devastating consequences. It's yet another complication that the family really don't need."
