Coronation Street fans have noticed some surprising chemistry between Todd Grimshaw and James Bailey.

The two characters were seen striking up a friendship in the Rovers during Wednesday's episode of the soap.

After a squabble with his boyfriend Theo Silverton, Todd joined newly single James for a drink, where they both lamented over their relationships. But viewers quickly pointed out a spark between the pair on Twitter/X, with some even suggesting Todd to should dump Theo for James.

"James and Todd having more chemistry than Todd and Theo, this silly little show got it wrong," said one.

Though James defended Theo during his chat with Todd, actor Jason Callender (who plays James), recently teased a shocking new romance for his character.

"James is going to have a romantic encounter," Callender told Inside Soap. "It's someone that the audience will not see coming. When I found out, I was so excited. I was like, 'I don't even know if we can do this!'"

Meanwhile, Todd and Theo's relationship will hit rocky waters next week, when Todd secretly puts Theo's phone on aeroplane mode while they're on a night out. His actions cause Theo to miss urgent calls from his wife Danielle as their daughter Millie is in hospital.

Will Theo forgive Todd's big mistake?
