Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street's Ed Bailey will confront his daughter Dee-Dee Bailey over her decision to give her baby away to her brother James.

In recent scenes, James returned to the Cobbles where he suggested to Dee-Dee (who was questioning whether she wanted to keep her child) that he and his boyfriend Danny could adopt the baby.

In next week's episodes Dee-Dee will give birth to a baby girl following a traumatic labour, which will result in Dee-Dee having a hysterectomy.

In scenes that will air on Wednesday (April 2), the Bailey family are finally allowed to see Dee-Dee following her dramatic labour and Dee-Dee appears upset when James says he would like to call the baby Laila.

With the boys gone, Ed is shocked when Dee-Dee tells him she's had to have an emergency hysterectomy and won't ever be able to have any more children.

"There is no malice in any of Dee-Dee's treatment, but it is the case of an overstretched and understaffed ward that she ends up on. She's not being fully heard, potentially because of assumptions that are being made.

"Dee-Dee is also maybe in a little bit of denial, because I don't think she's probably ready to have the baby quite yet. Her pain is quite dismissed and she suddenly finds herself in quite a severe situation."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
