Coronation Street's courtroom drama will continue next week as the judge confirms Max Turner's sentence.

Max recently faced court for the first time after he confessed to setting fire to the Platt house in an insurance scam, with the judge refusing to show him any leniency for handing himself in.

The judge denied Max's bail and ordered that he remain on remand until the trial, which will take place on Monday (March 3).

Given that Max actor Paddy Bever confirmed his exit from the ITV soap last month, it's possible that Max could be behind bars for a while.

"After much reflection and in an incredibly difficult decision, I have chosen to step away from Max and Coronation Street to explore new opportunities," Bever shared in a statement with Digital Spy at the time.

"I have been surrounded by such kindness and support every step of the way."

The actor told bosses of his decision to quit the soap at the start of last year, giving writers time to come up with a dramatic exit storyline for his character.

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
