Coronation Street star Colson Smith has shared an amusing alternative exit announcement following his initial statement.
The actor confirmed earlier this week that he would be bowing out as Craig Tinker after 14 years, with his final scenes due to air later in 2025.
In his initial message, Colson revealed he had been told about his departure last autumn, though has revealed in a TikTok video that once the press got wind of his exit this week, he was rushed into making a statement.

"I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who has sent me messages in about the secret that is no longer a secret, and that secret is that my time as Craig Tinker is coming to an end early this year," he began. "I just want to say thanks so much."
The actor explained that Corrie's press office asked if he could get a statement out quickly to confirm the news.

"So I had to write a statement to basically talk about Corrie and my time at Corrie, and how on earth do you sum up something that you've done for more than half your life, since you were a child, something you love so much," Colson continued.
"So I thought, I don't know what to write in this statement, and I thought, can't I just do this…".

He then began to lip-sync along to Hannah Montana's 'I'll Always Remember You' and the lyrics, "I always knew this day would come…".
"This is how I'm feeling," Colson explained, before teasing: "On my last day, I will be in my dressing room, I will take that police uniform off and I will feel like Miley when the Hannah wig went. And I will look in the mirror, and I will be there with this song playing."
The star captioned the post: "Miley = Colson, Hannah = Craig," joking that this is "the real statement".
As well as Colson, in the past week it was confirmed that Charlotte Jordan and Sue Cleaver will be departing as Daisy Midgeley and Eileen Grimshaw, while Luca Toolan has exited the show as Mason Radcliffe.
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
