Coronation Street spoilers follow.
Coronation Street will reveal a big shock for Carla Connor next week, as her brother Rob Donovan makes a return to Weatherfield.
2025 has got off to a bad start for Carla, after she was rushed to hospital and diagnosed with sepsis. The doctors later confirmed that the infection has badly damaged her kidney, meaning that she may need a transplant.
After her need for a transplant is confirmed later this week, Carla's family members begin to wonder whether they might be able to donate a kidney to her. As they worry, Carla's nephew Bobby Crawford goes to see his jailed dad Rob to tell him about the situation.

Bobby later pretends that he is going out with his friend Max Turner, before he heads back to the prison to visit his dad again.
Rob is soon telling Bobby that he has found religion while serving jail time, and confirms that he would like to donate a kidney to Carla if he is a match for her.

Unfortunately, their chat is suddenly interrupted by a commotion in the visiting room, caused by new arrival Matty Radcliffe.
Following Matty's arrest for stabbing his younger brother Mason, which caused his sad death, he pulls out another knife and threatens a prison guard.
Terrified Bobby soon finds himself caught up in a hostage situation in the visiting room, and Lisa Swain is later made aware of what's going on.
After Lisa tells Carla about what is happening to Bobby, Carla is shocked to realise that Bobby has secretly visited Rob.
She later admits to Lisa's daughter Betsy that her brother is a murderer, and that this is influencing her feelings on him being a kidney donor.

Later in the week, while at the hospital, Carla insists to Bobby that Rob's new-found religious outlook is just an act, adding that she will never trust her brother.
But Bobby tries to convince her that Rob has changed, urging her to go and visit him herself.
Carla eventually agrees to go and see Rob in prison, where he insists that finding God has changed him. He tells her that he wants to make peace with her and would love to donate his kidney to her if he can. How will Carla respond?
Later on, Carla finds out that if she accepts a kidney donation from Rob, then she will need to have her surgery privately due to the cost of keeping a prisoner in hospital for the procedure.

She and Ryan are shocked when they find out that the operation will cost around £100,000 to have privately. Will Carla go ahead with the procedure, or will another answer present itself?
Rob's return was confirmed late last year by Corrie producer Kate Brooks, with actor Marc Baylis making a comeback after an eight-year absence.

"We last left Rob languishing in prison. He made mistakes. He comes back to the show and we think he might be a reformed character who has seen the error of his ways, but whether that's the case or not, I don't know!" she teased.
"That causes a lot of trouble for Carla and Lisa. Just when Carla and Lisa think it's safe to sit down and watch Netflix, Rob Donovan comes along and scuppers all of that."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
