Coronation Street's Evelyn Plummer is set to suffer a setback in her exit storyline.
Evelyn actor Maureen Lipman is taking a break from the soap, and once she returns, it won't be as a full-time cast member. Recent episodes have started to lay the foundation, with Evelyn faking a solicitor's letter.
In scenes to air across New Year's Eve to January 3, Evelyn complains that her life lacks purpose and Roy suggests that she study a law degree.

The next day, she decides to actually fill out an online application to read law at university, and just a few days later, receives a text inviting her to come in for an interview.

Speaking about her decision, Lipman told The Sun: "I'll be absent for a while and then coming back.

"I'm not going to die, but then I'll be in and out of it because I want to have a bit of a life. (fiancé) David and I are thinking of having a bit of a gap year."
And of course, another Corrie actor is making a permanent exit soon, as Gail Rodwell's (Helen Worth) final scenes air on Christmas Day.
