The latest twist has seen Weatherfield residents learn that Lauren's disappearance is being treated as a murder investigation, which is worrying for Daniel Osbourne as it comes after DS Swain interviewed him as a potential suspect.
Opening up about the turn of events, Swain actress Vicky Myers told Digital Spy: "Swain is keen to find out exactly what Daniel's up to – was he tutoring Lauren for sexual favours? As awful as that sounds, perhaps that's exactly what's been going on.
"We're picking apart these people's lives and how accepting the community is. But when you put it down on paper, you ask: 'Is there an ulterior motive with this?' So Swain is very much on that and wants to look into it further."
Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
