Coronation Street’s Joel Deering is set to gain a surprising new ally, after his family secret gets exposed.
The solicitor, who is in a relationship with Dee-Dee Bailey, has been acting shifty recently over a mystery woman named Emily.
In tonight’s episode (February 23), Dee-Dee confronts Joel and he is forced to finally admit the truth behind his suspicious behaviour. He reveals to his girlfriend that Emily is in fact his wife, and they have a daughter called Maisie.
This, alongside the revelation that Emily kicked Joel out as he was having an affair while she was pregnant, causes Dee-Dee to end their relationship.

In scenes airing next week, Emily visits Dee-Dee at her flat following the break-up, and in a surprising twist, attempts to make amends and defend her former partner.
Emily explains the situation to Dee-Dee and confirms that she and Joel are in fact separated. She assures her that despite his lies, Joel is a good man at heart and Dee-Dee shouldn’t give up on him.
Following Emily’s intervention, will Dee-Dee be able to forgive Joel for his deceit? Or is their relationship over for good?

Dee-Dee previously found a receipt from a jeweller’s in his pocket, with a December date listed and a very costly purchase made.
Joel explained away the receipt by saying he bought himself some cufflinks, and while Alya joked about his expensive taste, she started to become suspicious.
Alya later spotted Joel in a car with Emily, which added to her suspicions that all was not as it seemed.

Earlier, Joel was also confronted by Emily in the Bistro, as she put pressure on him to sort something out.
With the help of Toyah, Alya got her hands on CCTV footage from the Bistro showing the pair together, evidence that Joel was hiding something from his girlfriend.
