Coronation Street’s Charlotte Jordan has revealed how her character Daisy Midgeley will react to Ryan Connor’s upcoming return.

Ryan left Weatherfield back in December, to start a new life in Glasgow as a DJ with girlfriend Crystal Hyde.

However, the soap has confirmed that he will make a surprise return at the Rovers next week, causing more complications for Daisy.

Things were left somewhat up in the air for the pair when Ryan left, after a difficult year that started with the horrific acid attack that they were both involved in.

In the aftermath, Daisy catfished Ryan, pretending to be Crystal in an attempt to lift his spirits following his injuries.

They then had a brief affair which was exposed soon after, ending Daisy’s relationship with fiancé Daniel Osbourne.

Daisy has struggled following Daniel reuniting with ex Bethany Platt, and Jordan has explained how Ryan’s sudden return will impact her character.

"Daisy fully assumes that Ryan is living his best life in Glasgow and is happy with Crystal," she said, "so I think this will be a real shock to her system.

"Daisy feels really isolated, especially from Daniel with Bethany coming back, so losing Ryan to Crystal also left her even more isolated. I definitely think Ryan will be welcomed back into Daisy’s life with open arms…"

Ryan’s reason for returning to the cobbles remains a mystery, and it is not yet known if he is still in a relationship with Crystal.

However, Jordan also revealed that she would like to see Daisy and Ryan become a proper couple in the future – out of curiosity if nothing else.

"I don’t know how healthy it is but I do think they need to make a go of it so that they can come to the realisation that it may not be that healthy, or maybe it will! So yeah, I would like to see them give it a go and see what happens."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
