Coronation Street fans are facing more scheduling changes due to football.

The soap had been due to air three hour-long episodes as normal next week on Monday (February 5), Wednesday, and Friday.

But Wednesday's episode how now been pulled due to ITV airing the FA Cup clash between Aston Villa and Chelsea from 7.30pm.

An extra Corrie episode has been slotted in on Sunday, February 11 to make up for the missed episode, with another extra episode to air on Tuesday, February 13 to make up for other lost slots recently.

Meanwhile, next week Simon Barlow will be involved in a car crash after he decides to get behind the wheel despite drinking.

Simon's dangerous actions will leave Sam Blakeman in hospital after he collapses following the crash.

Speaking about his character's current downward spiral, Alex Bain who plays Simon, described him as "broken" due to losing his mum and now being left by his dad Peter.

He said: "I think he’s just a broken individual who really hasn't got anyone properly looking out for him, and who has dealt with a lot from losing his mum at such a young age to now being left behind by his dad."

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
