Coronation Street star Channique Sterling-Brown has revealed she auditioned for a role on fellow ITV soap Emmerdale.
The star, who plays Dee Dee Bailey, was part of the Corrie team alongside Jack P Shepherd and Tony Maudsley for The Big Soap Quiz 2023, where they battled against an Emmerdale team consisting of Mark Charnock, Natalie Ann Jamieson and Kevin Mathurin.
During the show’s proceedings, host Stephen Mulhern remarked that Sterling-Brown nearly ended up on the rival soap, with the actor confirming she auditioned for the role of Naomi Walters, the daughter of Mathurin’s character.

"I could have been your daughter, Kevin," she told her opponent.
The quiz was eventually won by the Corrie team in a tie-break decider, with their triumph now bringing the overall score to five apiece in the historical head-to-head.

Speaking recently to Digital Spy to promote the documentary Breaking Through with Zeze Millz, Channique reflected on how her on-screen family broke down long-time barriers in the soap world.
"Being in something like Coronation Street, it's got a long history. People are very comfortable with what they think it represents," the star told us.
"But then you take into account that the family that I've joined is the first Black family on the show that's been the longest-running drama in the world. It's insane."
The Bailey family first appeared on the cobbles in 2019, and Channique officially arrived as Ed and Aggie's daughter last year.
