Coronation Street will air a surprise new alliance for Ed Bailey as 2024 arrives, as he teams up with returning villain Damon Hay.
With Ed's secret gambling set to be exposed over Christmas, the builder is facing a huge backlash from his family due to his lies, which result in the Baileys losing most of their Christmas presents.
Ed is desperate for money after his financial losses and, in scenes that will air on Tuesday, January 2 and Wednesday, January 3, it looks like Damon could provide an opportunity, as he offers Ed a job renovating a bar.

Later in the week, Damon reveals that he's getting his money out of the bistro and tells Ed that he should be able to pay him to do the bar renovation before the builder's yard is sold.

Damon will certainly be busy following his surprise return, as he rings in the New Year by kidnapping his former love rival Adam Barlow.
Seeking revenge after Adam ran him out of town in June, Damon attacks Adam and ties him up, before driving him away in a van.
Following his kidnap ordeal, and with Damon's sights firmly set on Adam's estranged wife Sarah again, Adam will head down a dark path as he pays a visit to Damon's killer half-brother, Harvey Gaskell, in prison.
Speaking to Digital Spy and other media in a press call, Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod has promised fans "a brilliant, exciting, high-octane story", which will feature "lots of intensity and passion and a whirlwind romance with Damon and Sarah".
