Coronation Street spoilers follow.

Coronation Street has hinted that Stephen Reid could still claim a victory in his ruthless Underworld plan.

Stephen is hell-bent on taking over the factory by convincing everyone that Carla Barlow is no longer capable of running the business.

The villain has been secretly spiking his boss's drinks with LSD, knowing that people will misinterpret the side-effects as Carla's psychosis returning.

Last week, Stephen tried to stage a coup against Carla by convincing the shareholders on the workforce to come out against her in a vote of no confidence.

Stephen was thwarted when every voter – including his niece Sarah Barlow – loyally backed Carla.

However, everything could change in next week's episodes as Stephen continues to spike Carla with the drugs.

Carla pays a visit to Dr Gaddas, explaining that her recent troubles have felt like she's tripping on drugs. Dr Gaddas prescribes her with diazepam.

Later, some important new clients arrive at Underworld to discuss the ongoing Nippersnapper deal.

Stephen patronises Carla by reminding her how important it is for her to be on top form.

Carla is livid over Stephen overstepping the mark, so she takes charge and orders him to make the tea.

Unhappy that Carla put him in his place, Stephen cruelly double doses her drink.

Later, as the meeting draws to a close, Carla's behaviour becomes erratic again.

The clients leave and the staff celebrate the news that the deal is secure.

Sadly, the mood turns sour when Carla spirals out of control, shouting at everyone to get out of her factory.

Carla's employees are shellshocked, while Stephen secretly smiles. Will this all work in his favour if he tries to take over again?

Coronation Street airs on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm on ITV1 and streams on ITVX.
