Coronation Street's Stu Carpenter receives big news in Eliza story

Coronation Street's Stu Carpenter will receive some big news next week as he attempts to get his granddaughter Eliza to move in with him.

Stu's dark past resurfaced in recent months when it was revealed he'd been in prison for murder, a crime he vehemently denied committing.

His innocence was eventually proven when his ex-wife Lucy and daughter Bridget admitted their guilt, but it left Eliza's future uncertain after the social worker informed him that she wouldn't be placed in his care because of his current conviction.

In upcoming scenes, Dee-Dee calls in to number 6 to pick up Stu for his court hearing, where he hopes that his sentence will be quashed so Eliza can move in with him.

Later on, a drained Stu returns home and tells Yasmeen the good news: his conviction has been overturned.

The celebrations are short-lived, though, because a new issue emerges when Stu realises he'll have to move out of the Nazir house because Eliza needs her own room. What does this mean for Stu and Yasmeen's future?

In other Corrie news, Bernie Winters finds a new ally next week in her fightback against Fern, who has been using Bernie's name and likeness in order to commit crimes in her name.

Following a failed attempt to find out where Fern lives, Bernie is approached by a man named Howard, who reveals he's Fern's ex-husband.

Meanwhile, Leanne will make a big decision which causes some tension between herself and an opposing Nick.
